Drug Rehab Chronicles - Don't Send Your Kid to an Early Death

With the number of students experimenting with drugs and alcohol on college campuses these days, there will continue to be a need for alcohol and drug rehab. However, getting a pupil into rehab is not something you want to put off once you see there's a problem: A recent study by Usa Today found that alcohol was often involved in pupil deaths. Fires, falls and alcohol poisoning from inordinate intake are some of the deaths reported in this study dating back to the beginning of 2000. Getting a pupil into a successful alcohol and drug rehab agenda fast may save their life.

Though some students arrive on campus ready to experiment with new found freedoms, many arrive with alcohol abuse habits already in place, says Tim McDonough of the American Council on Education. Mr. McDonough says colleges "are trying to educate and levy and break habits already in place. These issues are tough, but college institutions have been working on them for a long time."

It is these types of issues that make alcohol and drug rehab vitally significant for college age students. Without a clarification for abuse issues such as these, the lives of today's young people can be cut short without ever genuinely getting started.

One such death reported by Usa Today stemmed from a fraternity initiation. The prosecutor in the case reported that the fraternity pledges drank any shots and, sometimes, an whole bottle of alcohol in under an hour. One pledge died two days later.

Why the crazy behavior? Jeffrey Parsons of New York's Hunter College says that some students go wild and act crazy, enjoying new freedoms. Unfortunately, this often leaves the parents and the universities pointing fingers. College officials count on parents teaching accountability and parents assume colleges levy drinking rules.

In either case, the follow can be alcohol or drug abuse, and death. Without getting these students the help they need from an alcohol and drug rehab program, we may be sending them to an early death instead of establishment them for their future.
