Laid-Back California Dreamer in a Pocket Apron

Guy Fieri began his work as a host on the Food Network when he won the second season's The Next Food Network Star competition two years ago. He is presently the favorite host of three Food Network programs, both daytime and primetime, including greatest recipe Showdown in which the best of home cooks' recipes are showcased; Guy's Big Bite in which he shows the viewers how they can make exciting, bold-flavored, creative dishes; and Diners - Drive-ins - and Dives, in which he travels over the United States in quest of the most memorable food experiences which America offers.

Viewers are attracted not only to Guy's individualistic take on foods, but also to his unique, likeable, laid-back personality. This California dreamer with the spiky bleached blonde hair, uniform polo shirt, and Van Dyke beard began his culinary work at ten years of age, selling soft pretzels to schoolmates from a three wheeled motorcycle cart which he and his father had built. Six years of selling "Awesome Pretzels" and washing dishes at local restaurants earned him enough money to study in Chantilly France as an change student. While he was living in France he not only gained a life-long appreciation for haute cuisine, but also for the lifestyle and culture related with France. Upon returning to the United States Guy studied Hospitality administration at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, and graduated with a bachelor's degree. His first post-college job was managing Stouffers' Long Beach, Ca flagship restaurant. Three years later he changed company logo shirts and went to work as Louise's Trattoria District Manager, where he had to oversee their chain of six restaurants as well as recruit and train new employees.

In 1996 Guy launched his own Sonoma County Italian bistro - Johnny Garlic's - in Santa Rosa Ca. A second Johnny Garlic's opened in Windsor three years later, and a third will open in Roseville Ca late in 2008. The first Johnny Garlic's was such a success that in 2003 Guy launched a compound Southern barbecue-cum-California style sushi bistro called Tex Wasabi's in Santa Rosa; a second edition followed in 2007 in Sacramento Ca. Guy's restaurants not only offer keen new tastes, but visitors can also buy fun items ranging from a T shirt or squeeze bottle to a hat and pocket apron.

Guy has served three terms as the president of the Redwood Empire bistro Association. He is also on the board of directors of the California bistro Association's Educational Foundation. Recently, Guy served as the Grand Marshall of Sonoma's Nascar. In 2007 he was flown by the Navy to the Persian Gulf to cook for and entertain the troops. He lives in Sonoma County California with his wife Lori and his two sons Ryder and Hunter. Also his television work and cooking, Guy enjoys traveling with his house and restoring dirt bikes and classic race cars.
